Even with the most advanced loss prevention strategies in place, some degree of loss is inevitable; as Loadsure’s COO Jim Heide puts it, “you can’t avert a tsunami, or outsmart every cybercriminal.” That’s why best-in-class claims processes are a key part of Holistic Freight Protection: our 360-degree approach to risk management.
We’ve offered automated claims since our inception, and our process prioritises efficiency and transparency to deliver the best possible experience for both insurance providers and policyholders. Keep reading to learn how our automated claims actually work, and discover the benefits they offer both assureds and our insurance broker partners.
Why do conventional claims processes need to change?
In 2025, supply chain disruption is more varied and prolific than ever. Traditional manual claims processes simply can’t keep up with the needs of the businesses navigating this landscape.
Without automation, claims handlers have to manually review and process all data and documentation related to the submission. This results in lengthy handling times that force many assureds to plug the gap with their own money in the interim — a need that can be especially challenging for SMBs.
These handling times can therefore cause reputational damage to both the insurance provider, who’s being slow to payout, and the business that filed the claim, who might not have the cash to replace the lost load for their customer in the meantime.
On top of that, the manual review process leaves room for human error, as inconsistencies in outcomes can occur over time, and it’s so labour intensive that cost efficiency for insurance providers is drastically reduced too.
How do Loadsure’s automated claims processes work?
By contrast, Loadsure’s claims processes have been known to deliver settlements in record-breaking time, offering assureds complete visibility of the claim status and hugely reducing the resources required from claims handlers.
Here’s what our claims strategy looks like, step-by-step:
- The claimant starts by clicking the link on their certificate of insurance.
This action opens up the Loadsure claims portal, and details of the policy automatically pull through from the certificate — so no further evidence of cover needs to be provided. - Information about the loss is captured.
After checking all the cover details are correct, the claimant should then provide FNOL (First Notification of Loss). This report will include details of the load, and how the loss or damage occurred. They will also need to supply any supporting documentation for the claim, like invoices or photographs of the damaged. - The case is reviewed by a claims adjuster.
One of Loadsure’s qualified claims specialists reviews the details of the case and either approves it for payment, or refers it for further investigation. We’re currently developing a straight-through-processing solution, which will be trusted to deal with increasingly complex claims, and help to expedite outcomes. - An outcome is reached.
The claimant receives an email which notifies them of the outcome, and if they’re due a payout, they can choose whether to receive payment via check, eCheck, post or direct ACH transfer. We aim to do this as quickly as possible, and our average time between filing and settlement is less than 48 hours.

The transformative benefits of this approach
Our automated approach revolutionizes claims processes, not only for businesses who have suffered a loss, but also for the insurance providers on the receiving end of the claim. Take a look at the key advantages in more detail below:
Benefits for claimants
For policyholders, the most obvious benefit is quicker payouts, as automated systems expedite settlements, meaning businesses are made whole again before operations are severely disrupted. Within the portal, we provide automated updates to keep businesses in the loop as the claim progresses, so they’re less likely to need further updates from their insurance provider.
Automated claims processing also improves accuracy and consistency, so all claims are treated in the same way, and businesses can count on reliably fair outcomes.
Benefits for insurance providers
With automation handling a portion of the workflow, insurance providers have increased time and resources to focus on more complex cases, or bolster client relationships. Meanwhile, they’ll also enjoy the reputational boost that comes from delivering fast and efficient claims services, enhancing client satisfaction and retention.
Insurance providers will also gain access to valuable claims data, which can be used to assess the viability of factors like route, commodity, carrier, packing materials and more. This data helps to increase the accuracy of future outcomes, and help them advise their clients on how to manage risk more effectively moving forward.
Put simply, the ability to recoup losses quickly can make all the difference to businesses navigating a volatile global supply chain. Loadsure is proud to offer a best-in-class claims experience that helps businesses protect their bottom line, and insulate themselves from loss.
